CHEM-ROCK SAFETY-TRED is a high solids, low odor, solid color, 2-component, aggregate filled, 92% solids epoxy coating formulated for interior or exterior applications where an anti-slip finish profile is required. CHEM-ROCK SAFETY-TRED has good resistance to automotive fluids and many common chemicals found in food/beverage and general manufacturing. It is VOC/HAPS compliant and meets USDA/FDA guidelines for use in federally-inspected facilities.



CHEM-ROCK SAFETY-TRED is used as a heavy duty, long-wearing, non-skid epoxy coating for industrial and marine applications. With an appropriate primer it can be applied over both concrete and metal surfaces.

Limitations & For Best Results

  • Do not apply when humidity exceeds 70% indoors or when the temperature is within 5° of Dew Point.
  • Do not allow to puddle during application.
  • Allow each coat to dry to 'tack-free' prior to re-coat.
  • When re-coating, always apply the next coat within 24 hours of completing the previous coat.
  • This is a relatively slow curing product. Be sure to allow enough cure time prior to opening coated area for use or before recoating.
  • Always use an appropriate ROCK-TRED primer under this coating.
  • May be used outdoors, but loss of gloss will occur over time when exposed to the elements.
  • Do not over roll material as this can decrease the non-skid finish.

Product Application

CHEM-ROCK SAFETY-TRED should be applied with a phenolic core roller, squeegee, or trowel. A phenolic core roller cover (smooth, phenolic resin coated roller tube without any nap) will produce a uniform ridged surface. If a smoother surface is desired, use a trowel or a flat blade squeegee. Immediately after mixing pour a ribbon onto surface. The ribbon should be approximately 2-3 feet long and 6" wide. When using a roller pull the material towards you using some pressure. Roll material only in one direction. Strike off any excessive material build-up on edges from roller lap. When using a squeegee or trowel, hold on 45° angle pulling material toward you. ROCK-TRED product test data is based on environmental temperatures of 75°F. Viscosity and working time are always affected by temperatures above or below that mark. When applying product always consider the ambient, surface, and product temperature at the time and place of installation.



CHEM-ROCK SAFETY-TRED is manufactured in Gun Powder Gray and Safety Yellow.

Product Storage

DO NOT allow ROCK-TRED products to freeze. All ROCK-TRED products should be properly stored above the floor on pallets or shelves, and in an area that has a constant minimum temperature of 50°F.


Surface Preparation

Always apply ROCK-TRED products to a clean / sound substrate that is free of laitance, grease, oils, debris, and curing compounds. Concrete substrates should be cured for a minimum of 28 days prior to application of product [except as otherwise noted on the individual Product Data Sheet]. Whenever possible, remove existing coatings and/or flooring systems completely; if complete removal is not possible always perform tests to determine adhesion and compatibility to the existing flooring. Mechanical preparation by means of a shot-blasting or diamond grinding machine to a minimum CSP-2 profile followed by application of an appropriate ROCK-TRED primer is the best and recommended installation method for CHEM-ROCK SAFETY-TRED applications. If the substrate is not properly prepared and the appropriate profile is not achieved, failure of the product to adhere to the substrate may occur.
